Many remain unaware that special provisions allow police to lay charges of operating a vessel whilst under the influence, as well as unsafe operation of that vessel (which includes jet skis). Police are targeting drink & drug drivers

The Queensland Police Service have advised that during weekend operations, they performed nearly 3000 random breath tests with 17 offenders detected. Police will continue with this traffic operation over Easter. Read more here.

Gold Coast driver disqualified for life

The Southport District Court today disqualified a driver for life after he pleaded guilty to dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing grievous bodily harm. Read more at the Gold Coast Bulletin website.

Blitz on Gold Coast drivers

64 drivers were netted in an operation conducted by Gold Coast police over the weekend in Broadbeach.  Police have confirmed that the blitz will continue and that Gold Coast residents are “on notice”. Read more in the Courier Mail or Gold Coast Bulletin.

Court fails to deter drink drivers

A Queensland University of Technology study has revealed that most people caught for drink driving had done it in the past without being caught.  The study also found that the court failed to deter some offenders from committing the same offence again. Read full article at the Sydney Morning Herald.
